Salary: up to £35,000

Our Client is a leading global specialist for coated high-quality plastic films, sheets and other plastic products. Our Client is seeking to recruit a Development Technician to support the functions within the R&D laboratory.
Responsibilities of the Junior Chemist
- Evaluate and analyse new pigments and develop pigment formulations to improve colour stability and weather resistance.
- To co ordinate and ensure that all aspects of the Accelerated Weathering Programme are carried out effectively and within the specified time constraints.
- Controlling sample test request
- Managing results database
- Planning sample evaluation cycle times
- Controlling physical period sampling history archive
- Optimises machine capacities
- Training of additional personnel ensuring consistent test result interpretation.
- To ensure that the Weathering machines are maintained in good working order to minimise downtime.
- To contribute to the understanding and interpretation of test results in relation to product construction and modifications
- To assist in running and reporting of plant trials.
- Monitoring and regular reporting of operating costs of Weather machines / area.
- The successful candidate will lead the operation of the weathering facility for part of the week and work closely with other testers to ensure continuous testing coverage.
Profile of the Junior Chemist
- Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or Polymer Science (essential).
- Knowledge of Pigment Technology (desirable).
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment (desirable).
