Our client is an independent, British paint manufacturer with a focus on sustainable paint production. They are looking to recruit a skilled Technical Manager with a background of problem solving at formulation, production, commercial and leadership level. The position requires at technical experience preferably in the Decorative Paints and Coatings Industry, experience with Point of Sale Tinting Systems and a proven track record of leadership across different technical disciplines.
This position could potentially progress into a Technical Director position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and innovation of new products into the Decorative Market.
- Stay up-to-date with legislations which affect the decorative paints market.
- Resolve any problems which could occur in technical, process or manufacturing.
- Management responsibility of over 3 chemists that deliver production support, new product development, troubleshooting technical issues, quality control of colour collateral and formulation maintenance.
- QA management and ensuring our Client is compliant with any legislative issues.
- Responsible for the Business’ technical response to complaints both commercial and formulation.
- Development of colour systems to improve colour consistency across all colour collateral that is produced by the business and provide colour advice where required.
- Responsible for the quality of paints going out of the business, monitoring plant hygiene and process improvements on the plant.
- Experience monitoring projects and ensuring agreed project timelines are met.
Candidate Profile:
- Decorative Paints and Coatings experience, and a thorough understanding of formulating techniques especially water-based technology.
- Strong leadership and management experience.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Proven track record of New Product Development and product launch.
- Proven problem-solving skills covering technical, process and manufacturing.
- A good understanding of legislation that affects the decorative market.
- A comprehensive understanding of industry practices and standards with respect to decorative coatings.
- Good understanding of Point-of-Sale tinting including machine, software, and colourant issues.
