Our client develops, manufactures, in house application and supplies application services for a unique coating system. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for establishing and maintaining necessary controls, particularly during New Product Introduction, Capital Projects and Engineering Change Requests, liaising closely with Production, Purchasing and Logistics functions as required.

Reporting to the position will be the Facilities and Production Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, Control Engineer, Design Engineer and Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership to Production to ensure delivery to Quality, Time and Cost targets. This leadership will be hands-on, and will require practical direction in developing part-specific tooling and processes (dispersion, spray, etch) for Customers’ parts.
  • Maintain Health & Safety to develop culture and ensure a safe, inclusive and engaging working environment
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the Engineering Function to ensure Continuous Improvement of Operations performance
  • Support the Management Team in development of Company Strategy, Departmental Objectives and Organisational Structure as required
  • Maintain certification to ISO Quality and Environmental Standards
  • Maintain and develop IT support infrastructure and delivery systems

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Technical Competence in Coating Service activities – tooling, materials, spray application, post-application surface modification
  • Scheduling and control of Production Management
  • Objective setting and review, Management of Personal Development and Discipline of direct reports
  • Management of Health and Safety
  • Experience in Coating Application and Surface Modification techniques, analytical techniques (spectroscopy, semiconductor processing etc.)
  • Lean manufacturing methods, Kaizen/problem solving methods, operations improvements (e.g. 5S, DMAIC)
  • STEM degree level
  • Role in Technical Function related to the processes deployed in the Coating Service stream – CVD/plasma processing, Specialist Spray Applications, Spectroscopic Measurement techniques

In return, our Client is offering an attractive salary (provided at the time of application), 25 days holiday, death in service, gym membership contribution, private medical care. Early finish Friday (Monday – Thursday 8:30-5:30, Friday 8:30-1pm or Monday – Thursday 7:30-4:30, Friday 7:30-12:30)
